Antique Writing Desk | Dunwoody, Georgia

This desk had a very common problem with 100 year old furniture the humidity and poor quality glue had finally failed; leaving the top split in several places. We finished the job by literally ripping the boards apart. Then we recreated the joint. And using modern glue, clamps, and old fashioned hand-planes resurfaced the top. We used all the original screws and did not add any new nails or staple. The result is a table that looks as good as if they had just purchased it down at the mercantile from Nells.
